My shoplog page is for updates, rants, opinions, basically the company blog... or "shplog" in this case. "So how do you really feel?"... is a question that will likely get addressed here from time to time. Or maybe a cool sunset, a half-baked idea, another craftsman in thier groove, a heads-up on an event, or maybe nothing at all on some days. Have a look occasionally to see if there's anything new.

Dec.1, 2007 New items on the Available page... I've been trying to clear up a bunch of loose ends the last couple of months, and in the process I've been getting a bunch of the "shop knives" refurbished and ready to go to new homes. These are "prototypes", one of the things that needs to happen regularly is that to figure out new ideas and methods, you have to just go ahead at some point and try them out, make the knives or tools, and test them, use them for awhile to see how they work out. Some get tested to destruction, to see how tough and strong they are going to be, others just get used hard, to see how they hold up. The knives on the Available page currently fall into the latter category. So I cleaned them up, made some sheaths for them, and they are ready to find a new home. I've got two on there right now, then shortly there will be a couple more as I get a chance to get some leather on them. They will all be real "workhorse" pieces, and will be priced accordingly of course. Then, I'll be back to the regular program, a batch of my more regular and fancier "scandis", some bare blades for the aspiring cutlers out there, and maybe a sword or two for the winter season. Stay tuned.
Backorders are becoming a thing of the past as well, this weekend sees the last of them getting finished up and shipping starts next week, a couple of Katanas, a Tanto, a knife... it'll be good to have this finally cleared up, as I'm sure the customers will agree. Never again. I also want to re-state that this does mark the end of working in traditional-styled Japanese swords for me. It's been very enlightening, educational, and interesting to go down that path for awhile, but it's time to move on.
So anyway, that's the news for the day....
