Maple Seax

This seax is entirely hand-made, no power tools touched any part of this project, I even used a hand-powered drill for the handle pin. Just because I could.

17.25 hand-forged and hand-finished blade, featuring a hammerfinished upper bevel, in W-1 tool steel. The seax is 22.50 inches overall.

Grade 4A-5A curly maple handle and scabbard with leather/copper trim. The scabbard is contoured to reflect the shape of the blade it containes. Finished off with a hand-rubbed oil finish and a light acid blush treatment that will allow the wood to patina and get better with age. I think this is one of the nicest projects I've done in a very long time.

I'm asking $1200 for this one.

In the same influence as the knife above, I called this one the "Brown Fighter". Cord-wrapped epoxy-impregnated handle on a W-1 tool steel full-tang blade, which has been given a traditional slow-rust treatment for the wonderfull plum-brown colour. It has a 5-inch blade, and it's a very slim/sleek piece.

Wet-molded leather sheath with a cross-draw loop... this again was a shop-model made to test some ideas and techniques, and it's time for it to be adopted as well
